How To Stop Hay Fever : 24 Tips

Pollen grains move through the air,making t virtually impossible to avoid. However, you can take a number of measures to minimize the effects. Let us know the ways by which you can resist allergy from pollen.

24 Tips To Stop Hay Fever

1. It is important to know which pollen you are sensitive to. This helps in taking the necessary precautions in good time.

2. Consider the hay fever messages on radio or internet. The severity of your complaints depends on the pollen concentration in the air. The higher the pollen concentration, the more complaints you have.

3. The weather plays an important role in spreading pollen in the air. The warmer it is, the higher the pollen concentration. On windy days the pollen spreads quickly. In rain, the pollen is flushed out of the air. In the evening, the amount of pollen in the sky is greatest.

4. Avoid outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, sports, high concentrations of pollen for which you are sensitive. Indoor games are well suited. If you want to exercise outside, preferably do it early in the morning or immediately after a rain shower if there is less pollen in the sky.

5. In the countryside, there is usually more pollen than in the city. In the city, there are more crowded roads around crowded roads than near quieter roads. Due to air pollution, the complaints can also be more violent.

In the countryside, the pollen concentration in the morning is greatest, in the city usually towards the evening.

6. Avoid forests, parks, and meadows, and do not prefer camping or picnics in the wild.

7. Do not mow the grass yourself and keep away from places where the grass is mowed.

8. At sea and in the high mountain (above 1500 m) there is much less pollen in the air. Try to take that into account when planning your vacation. A stay at the coast during the birch flowering period (April-May) is recommended for people who are allergic to birch sprouts.
For grass pollen, the situation is different. The influence of the wind direction is important here.

9. Keep windows and doors (especially the bedroom) closed, especially at the end of the afternoon if pollen concentrations are highest. Air your home preferably in the morning or at night because there is less pollen in the air or after a rain shower.

10. Clean home furniture and surfaces regularly with a damp cloth. Vacuum regularly, preferably with a vacuum cleaner that has a good filter. Pollen falls quickly on the ground (if there is no trip).

11. Do not get houseplants or bouquets with blooming plants or cat-bearing branches in your home that may cause allergic reactions.

12. Dry your clothes inside the home so that pollen can not blow on the clothes and sheets. If you want to dry outside, do it right after a rain shower or when the wind is not blowing.

13. Do not change your outerwear or sportswear in your bedroom.

14. Wash or rinse your hair before bedtime to remove pollen grains.

15. Keep the window of the car closed. If necessary, install a pollen filter on the air circulation. For many cars with air conditioning, this is currently standard.

16. Wear a well-sealed (solar) spectacle outdoors so that the flying pollen does not end up in your eyes.

17. Do you have pets, wash them regularly to remove the pollen from their fur.

18. Apply vaseline on the inside of your nose and around the eyes. This prevents the pollen from reaching the mucous membrane.

19. Avoid tobacco smoke and smoky spaces, which provide additional stimulation and faster response to pollen. Also, avoid smoking yourself.

20. Also avoid inhalation of non-allergic stimuli such as glue, paint, detergent, toilet cleaner, perfume, baking air, and so on. This can enhance the allergic reaction.

21. Do not rub in your eyes but reduce irritation by rinsing with lukewarm water or putting a damp cloth on the eyes. In the case of eye complaints, do not wear contact lenses.

22. A hot shower can help with the complaints. The warm humid air purifies the air of pollen in the bathroom. Do not use shampoo/shower gel/soap that smells strong during the shower, as strong odors can enhance the allergic reaction.

23. In the event of initial complaints, it may help to rinse the nose or throat with a solution of salt water.

24. One in two people with a tree pollen allergy develops an allergy to vegetables and / or fruit. Also in people with allergies to grasses or weeds can a cross allergy develop for certain vegetables or fruits. This is because the substances that cause hay fever (allergens) also occur in foods. So take note of what you eat when you have such an allergy.

Certain proteins in pollen of birch and hazel are also found in certain fruit types, such as apple, pear, stone fruit (plum, peach, cherry), melon, kiwi and nuts (hazelnut, almond, walnut …) and in some vegetables such as Parsley, paprika, carrot and tomato.

Certain proteins in grass also occur in, for example, peanut, carrot, cucumber, banana, pineapple, celery, parsley, and potato.

People who are allergic to the foot bone pollen are at high risk of food allergy for celery, carrot, and fennel. So avoid foods that makes allegy worse.
