When you see an elderly couple holding their hands in the street or laughing at the bench in the park, do you feel the warmth, happiness, and love in your soul? Or, the view makes you wonder, “Why do some people manage to keep their love for so long, and others do not?”

Love is vivid. It is never repeated. But what can we do to keep the spark alive as long as possible? What are the happy couples doing differently? Here are 10 tips for a happy and lasting relationship:

Tip 1: Staying Calm

One of the main rules of happy couples is not to get angry at each other. Partners who have a 50-60 year-old marriage have shown with many interviews that this is not just another cliche. If you quarreled with your mate right before you went to bed without having solved the problem, it could become a bad habit and harm your relationship in the long run. It’s not a bad idea to get comfortable at bedtime because quarrels do not determine your relationship. And what is more valuable than peace and love?

Tip 2: Hugs and kisses

With the maturation of each relationship, people sometimes forget the importance of small gestures for the spirit of their relationship. Very happy couples share that kisses and hugs are doing miracles. They start and end each day with a kiss. This not only creates a more positive mood but also relieves stress and tension. Hugs and kisses have proven to stimulate the production of the hormone oxytocin, which creates a sense of intimacy. Surprise your partner with a hug or kiss after a hard day’s job, you will definitely make his day better. Be sure to share intimate moments if you want your relationship to be healthy.

Tip 3: Share your Interests

When it comes to connections, what most brings people together is their common interests. Therefore, it is extremely important to do things that are both pleasant to you and your partner. It does not have to be any complicated activity. They may be as simple as watching a TV or a movie; you may have your dinner together. Searching for new common activities can also be very useful for your relationship.

Tip 4: Appreciate your Partner

Happy couples focus on the positive aspects of their relationships, not the cracks. There are so many people who prefer to point out their disadvantages instead of evaluating their half. This kind of behavior is of great importance to intimate relationships because the essence of love lies in accepting a loved one with all his imperfections.

Tip 5: Rituals before bedtime

Very happy couples have the habit of going to the bedroom together, whether only one will sleep, or both. For a stable relationship, it is crucial that both partners share their true feelings rather than hide them. It is normal not to agree on any question, but it is imperative that you evaluate your partner’s point of view and try to understand his point of view. Many couples forget about how important this is, and they are in a hurry to tell their mate how stupid it is to think in a certain way. This attitude could seriously hurt your beloved man/ woman, make him/ her close to himself/ herself.

Many links have failed because of the lack of trust between partners. Mutual trust is a must for a happy relationship. By showing your partner that you value, support and trust his skills, you strengthen the relationship between yourself, especially in difficult times. Never forget that trust is the foundation of a strong and lasting relationship.

Tip 9: Celebrate your Success

By showing your mate that you are proud of its achievements, no matter how small they are, you can greatly strengthen your relationship. This proves that what is necessary to her is important to you as well. It is also essential to give your partner courage on his way to his dreams.

Tip 10: Humor

Did you know that every year seminars are being held to teach people how to use their sense of humor in their relationships? The reason for this is that humor is an important means of keeping the relationship alive. Happy couples also know that it is important to be careful because excessive sarcasm can harm their partner’s feelings and make him uncertain. Respect should always accompany humor.
